The Florida Gaming Control Commission and Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey have recently destroyed 147 illegal slot machines, as shown in a video posted to X from the official FGCC account.
These seized machines were taken from several illegal gambling sites across Brevard County, and it comes just days after 22 illegal gambling machines and just over $25,000 were seized from three businesses in Port Orange.

A total of 20 slot machines and two coin pushers were seized during the latter operation, and every individual involved received a notice to appear in court.
“The Florida Gaming Control Commission is joining with other law enforcement agencies to stop illegal gambling in our state,” said Alana Rimmer, FGCC Executive Director.
“If businesses are unclear on the legality of their machines, they can contact the FGCC anytime for direction and clarification.”
In a separate Facebook post, Sheriff Ivey stated: “What we’re doing today, standing behind us is all the different gambling machines and apparatuses that we’ve seized over the last 18 months here in Brevard County. This is just a small smidgen of all the machines we’ve seized, but also multiple arrests, and 17 search warrants have been served in the past 18 months.”
In August this year, 250 illegal machines were also seized by the FGCC and with around $200,000 in cash. While these offences can lead to criminal charges, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier wants these penalties raised.

“Right now, people can stand to make millions off of unlawful gambling operations and just end up with a slap on the wrist, a misdemeanor,” said the Attorney General in a video that was shared on X.
“This is not sending the right message and it is not enough of a deterrent to stop this illegal behavior.”
Over the previous six months, Florida has had success in dealing with illegal gambling by seizing hundreds of illegal gaming machines and cash from premises which do not hold a gambling license.
As evidenced by the latest news regarding 147 machines being destroyed in Brevard County, there is still plenty of work to be done in the Sunshine State in the future.
